About Tassie Mates
Tassie Mates is a family-owned and operated support service with its foundations in South Australia. Originally established as Mentoring Adelaide in 2018, we have been delivering mentoring and individualised support services to people with disability for several years and have since expanded our services to Tasmania.
Tassie Mates was created with a clear purpose: to provide meaningful, active, and innovative engagement opportunities for people living with disability. Our supports are participant-centred, goal-focused, and designed to build skills, confidence, and independence over time.
We specialise in side-by-side mentoring, where participants are supported to work towards their goals through creative, practical, and alternative learning approaches. Our mentors encourage growth through hands-on experiences, learning through fun and play, and real-world skill development, while providing consistent and reliable support tailored to each individual’s pace and needs.
We are passionate about creating new opportunities for learning, social participation, and personal development, and we pride ourselves on supporting participants to challenge their limits, build capacity, and engage meaningfully in their communities.

Tassie Mates is first and foremost about the participant. We work collaboratively with each individual to understand their goals and match them with a suitable mentor or support professional who can assist them to develop the skills needed to achieve meaningful outcomes.
We provide individually tailored programs of support, with services adjusted to ensure inclusion, accessibility, and active participation. Supports are flexible and responsive, allowing participants to engage in activities aligned with their interests, abilities, and NDIS goals.
As a baseline, we offer a range of supports including:
-
1:1 Mentoring and Individual Support
-
Life Skills and Social Skills Development (individual and group-based)
-
Community Access and Social Participation
-
Active, goal-focused outings that build independence and confidence
-
Short Term Respite
All services can be delivered on a 1:1 basis upon request, depending on participant preference, assessed needs, and available funding.
